Top-ranking for NanoFab Building in the U.S.
The well-known journal Engineering News-Record magazine (ENR) has ranked the NanoFab Xtension building at the college of Nanoscale and Engineering in Albany, NY, as ‘one of the best construction projects” of the year.
The building, built by M+W U.S., houses the 450 millimeter wafer size research and development of the Global 450 Millimeter Consortium, including industry leaders like GlobalFoundries, IBM, Intel, Samsung and TSMC. The main objective is to enable the transition from existing 300 millimeter wafersize production to the new 450 millimeter technology. M+W Group itself was selected to lead facility and infrastructure development for the next 450 millimenter wafer generation. In 2012 President Barack Obama visited the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. He spoke about the college as a model for national success.
