M+W Zander (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., China, has been awarded a new major contract for design and construction of the most advanced semiconductor factory in China. The company of the M+W Zander Group was appointed as general contractor for engineering, procurement and construction. This includes technical setup of the factory and of around 20.000 square meters of cleanroom area. The name of the customer is not being disclosed. The order volume amounts to around more than 400 million US-Dollars.
A ground-breaking ceremony held on September 8, 2007 marked the start of work on the foundations for the new factory in Dalian in northeast China. The construction project is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2009.
M+W Zander has been active in China since the early 1990s. It is well positioned in the country with its rapidly developing electronics market (e.g. semiconductor and flat-screen) as well as in other segments such as pharmaceutical and automotive industry.
