Largest Commercial Data Center in Middle East

Largest commercial data centre project in the UAE.

Abu Dhabi based Khazna Data Center Limited is a new, fast growing provider of data centre infrastructure for the Middle-East region. On its way to a leading key provider for wholesale data center services in the UAE and the region, the company decided to build an innovative data center cluster with two major scale facilities located in Abu Dhabi and in Dubai.

These will be in accordance with green building regulations and environmentally sustainable goals of energy efficiency. A key success factor will be the tight time frame for execution of just 18 months!
Khazna appointed a German-Arab Joint Venture formed by the German engineering and construction company M+W Group (with its Abu Dhabi branch office) and the Emirati construction company Commodore Contracting to execute this technologically superior, environmentally friendly project. Together both companies combine local roots and know-how with the best of German engineering and global project competencies. As Khazna required the project to be realised within budget, time and with clear responsibilities, this project was concluded as an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract.
This is the first data center project of this particular scale to be constructed in the region. The Abu Dhabi facility will be located on a 40,000 sqm site and the Dubai facility on a 34,000 sqm site. In the first phase
each site will include 2,400 sqm white space area, with the capacity to expand as demand grows. Scheduled to be completed by December 2013 (Dubai) and January 2014 (Abu Dhabi), they are designed to be the largest data centers in the UAE occupying an area of some 13,000 sqm.
The project is part of Khazna’s strategy
to venture into the whole-sale data center services market. Each data center comprises six independent modules (PODs) and provides Tier 3+ availability standards based on international rating standards.
For the future tenants there has to be capacity to provide even better value-added services to their customers.
