M+W Group has received a major contract from global cosmetics company Beiersdorf for a new plant in Mexico.
Services provided by M+W Group will include architecture, engineering, construction management, and prefabrication of key facility equipment for this plant, which
will be Beiersdorf’s largest research and development center in America. A unified contracting approach will allow M+W Group to efficiently coordinate all project phases, greatly reducing the construction schedule, while providing Beiersdorf a single point of responsibility for the completion of the project. The facility has broken ground and by early 2014 Beiersdorf will be shipping Nivea and Eucerin branded products throughout Mexico and multiple export markets.
“Our globally proven design-build project approach provides a cost and schedule assured solution to companies doing technology-focused research and production in Mexico,” said Rick Whitney, President and CEO of M+W Americas. “M+W Group simplifies the development of advanced technology facilities by providing all major aspects of project execution within one company.”
For Mexico’s manufacturing companies, this means having a design/builder that will enable clients to bring products to market faster in reliable, sustainable facilities using innovative designs and construction methods.
M+W Group is helping fulfill Beiersorf’s strong commitment to sustainability by providing a facility that will meet rigorous LEED Gold criteria. M+W Group worked closely with Beiersdorf to develop strategies tailored to the local environment, including extensive water recycling and a cogeneration plant that is able to re-use waste heat. With fewer than a dozen facilities certified as LEED Gold in Mexico, this plant will serve as an important model of energy efficiency.
